“Martín
Ramírez: The
Last Works” shines new light on an artist now revered as one
of the masters of the twentieth century. A cache of previously unknown
drawings
was recently discovered in a garage in California and will be concurrently
exhibited at the Ricco/Maresca Gallery and the
American
Folk Art Museum.
Created during the last three years of Ramírez’s life,
these works continue his innovative examination of line and subject
matter
coupled with a bolder use of color and a greater degree of abstraction.
Accompanying the exhibition is a full-color catalogue,
Martín
Ramírez: The Last Works, with essays
by Brooke Davis Anderson, Richard Rodriguez, and Wayne Thiebaud.
Ricco/Maresca Gallery is the exclusive representative of the Estate
of Martín Ramírez.
